If you love watching nature shows on TV, you have probably seen those time-lapse videos that show a flower blooming, clouds moving, day turning into night, all these at very high speed. These videos are filmed in a special mode, which captures frames from time to time, giving the impression that the video is going faster than normal. What if you could create these types of videos yourself? Most consumer video cameras don't have a feature for time-lapse recording, but using specialized software like VideoVelocity, this is now possible.

The software is compatible with almost any capturing device, including web cameras, video cameras, TV-tuners and so on, and allows capturing the video feed from these sources by actually capturing frames from time to time, giving the impression of a faster speed. The name clearly states the program's functionality. The recording feature may require installing an external encoder, in case none is installed in the system already. This will be done automatically, without the user's intervention.

This Windows application is very easy to install and also easy to use. The user just needs to connect his capturing device to the computer and the application will automatically detect it. During the recording process, a preview window and a recording window are both displayed inside the interface, together with some information regarding the number of frames captured and the elapsed video time.
